Product overview

Suntree 2-pole 1000V DC moulded case circuit breaker in Kenya in 160A or 250A ratings, a main disconnect for large arrays and battery banks.

The Suntree 2-Pole 1000V DC MCCB is engineered to provide industrial-grade protection for the most demanding DC applications. Unlike standard miniature circuit breakers, this Molded Case Circuit Breaker is designed to handle high current loads of 160A or 250A, making it the ideal main disconnect for large solar arrays or high-capacity lithium battery banks. The core technology involves a labyrinth arc extinguisher, which is essential for managing the high-energy arcs produced by direct current surges. This system, combined with built-in double-row moving contacts, significantly increases the arc voltage to quench the electrical discharge faster and more safely. The construction of the unit is exceptionally rugged; the base is made from DMC (Dough Molding Compound) material, which is VO-rated for flame retardancy and offers excellent thermal stability. For professional system integration, the MCCB is designed to support a range of accessories, including excitation releases, auxiliary contacts, and alarm switches, allowing the breaker to communicate with a central control system or trigger external alerts. This ensures multiple layers of protection beyond simple overcurrent. Its robust design is matched by its ease of installation, providing a reliable safety barrier that prevents equipment damage and fire hazards in high-voltage DC environments. For utility-scale or heavy commercial solar projects, the Suntree MCCB provides the high-level circuit control and interruption capacity required by modern electrical codes.

Who it is for

Installers and facilities teams protecting PV strings, batteries and AC circuits with correctly rated breakers, isolators, surge protection and enclosures.

For business and commercial buyers

  • Correct protection supports safe operation and insurance requirements.
  • Itemised quotation and tax invoice from GeoSolar for your procurement file.
  • Engineer review of compatibility with your existing system before you commit.
  • Business pricing available to approved trade and corporate accounts.

Compatibility and installation

What to confirm before you buy

  • DC or AC rating, and the maximum system voltage (for example 500VDC or 1000VDC).
  • Current rating against the circuit it protects.
  • Number of poles required by the circuit design.
  • Enclosure IP rating and number of ways for the location.

Protection devices must be selected and installed by a qualified electrician. AC breakers are not interchangeable with DC breakers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an AC breaker on the DC side of my solar system?

No. DC circuits need DC-rated devices, which are designed to interrupt DC arcs. Use the DC rating that matches your system voltage.

Is the price VAT inclusive?

Yes. Marketplace prices are shown in Kenyan shillings and include 16% VAT where it applies. Your tax invoice shows the VAT amount.

How does delivery work?

Nairobi delivery is Ksh 1,500 and courier delivery to the rest of Kenya starts at Ksh 4,500; heavy items are quoted. Delivery is free on orders above Ksh 500,000, and you can collect your order instead.

Can GeoSolar install this for me?

Yes. Request a quotation and choose supply and installation. An engineer confirms the design and compatibility with your site before work starts.
